DAY RIDE ROUTE INFORMATION:
All riders (short course, long course & day riders) will take the same route for the first 38km. We will follow the Warburton Rail Trail to Warburton followed by backroads to Big Pats Creek where the climbing commences. The 10km that follows is a scenic gravel climb on Smyth Creek Road. The effort is rewarded with beautiful views on a clear day. The collection of gravel roads that follow are equally lush, they make for a fun descent before crossing the Yarra-Junction Noojee Road and arriving at the resupply point for the day in Powelltown (38km). Tree lined gravel back roads & fire trails will take you almost the whole way back to where you started. It sounds so simple, but fear not - you're sure to get some exercise!
CAMP KEVIN BIKEPACKER INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON EVENTBRITE HERE!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: While some of the Curve squad will be riding, there is no formal organisation - it will just be like you're out riding with your mates, you need to be self sufficient. Please upload the ride file to your Garmin or GPS device. If you don't have a device, ride with someone who does.

Who is this event suitable for?
Flashpacking is just like bikepacking but you stay in accommodation instead of camping. This is a two day social pace flashpacking trip aimed at people who are new to flashpacking. A good guide as to whether you’re ready to join this party; could you comfortably ride the distances & vertical meters advertised without gear on your bike with a few short stops?
Carrying gear on your bike adds a little challenge and that’s just what we are after on this journey; just the right amount of challenge, with like minded people. If you’re unsure if this journey is for you but you’re interested, let’s talk! April would love to hear from you april@curvecycling.com
Please read if you plan to attend!
ROUTE DESCRIPTION
SAT 30 NOV, DAY 1: Linville to Nanango: 82km/ 1300vm.
Rider briefing @7:45am outside the Linville Train Station. Rolling at 8am.
Resupply: There is no resupply point on course. Pack your lunch, lots of snacks & water.
The first 20km or so of this weekend of fun is the perfect way to ease into it; a sealed road with gentle gradients. The kilometers beyond are punctuated with crossings of the Brisbane River, sometimes this involves a bridge and other times it doesn’t. Fear not - we shouldn’t get too wet and it might even be fun!
The other adventurous aspects of the route is essentially a tale of two climbs; the ascent that occurs right after Wombi Creek Road & the subsequent little pinch that lasts for a few kilometers on River Road. The latter is sealed & there is no shame in a stroll on either of these parts of the course should the need arise.
The final 5km into Nanango are sealed and mostly downhill.
SUN 1 DEC, DAY 2: Nanango to Linville 60km/ 55vm
Resupply: 37km Blackbutt. Bakery & supermarket.
The second day of this excursion features mostly gentle gradients, gravel back roads and & the final 40km includes everyone’s favourite rail trail; the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. The BVRT trends downhill from our resupply point in Blackbutt to our final destination in Linville. The perfect end, to a perfect two days!
There will be 20 places available (10 men/ 10womxn). The only way to secure a place is to book a ticket. If needed, a waitlist may be available.

THE IMPORTANT STUFF
Curve will put this social ride on Sunday 15 Dec 2024. We would love to see you there. Our goal is to get as many people off the couch as possible to explore a slightly more adventurous and fun side of cycling. If you're coming along, please be self-sufficient and remember that this is a fun social ride - not a race in any way, shape or form. While some of the Curve squad will be riding, there is no formal organisation - it will just be like you're out riding with your mates - nothing more. Please, have the route on your Garmin/ GPS Device.
Please pay careful attention to the route. If you don't have a Garmin/ GPS Device, ride with someone that does. Take it easy on the shared paths and look for pedestrians, animal life, and other locals. Look for traffic, and look after others riding with you on main roads. Use a bell when possible to alert others to your location. Make sure you have anything to fix a flat/your bike; we don't have any support or a vehicle to pick you up.
If you show up for this ride, all that we ask you do is sign our waiver / disclaimer here: curvecycling.com/pages/ride-event-need-to-know
