Womxn of Curve Jam for Jamieson Flashpacking Adventure

EVENT INFORMATION

When: 22-23 February 2025

Ride info:  381km/ 7900vm over 2 days.

Start/ Fin: Traralgon

What bike: A gravel bike >40mm tyres.

Who: This ride is for all women/trans/non-gender conforming riders, who want to have a go at a self-supported, challenging ride in the company of others.

This isn’t the moment for your first 200km ride as it’s TWO solid 200km rides back to back. There is still time to hit this milestone before the event in Feb.

If you want to come along, if you're not sure if it's for you or you want to find out more, you must email april@curvecycling.com

What is this Jam for Jamieson?

For the uninitiated, Jam for Jamieson is an off-road route that features in the Audax Victoria calendar. With this in mind, it’s in keeping with other Audax offerings; no hike a bike, nothing super steep or crazy BUT the challenge of riding this route outside of Audax time is that there’s not much in the way of resupply for solid stretches and it’s pretty hilly out there; one of those hills is Mount Skene!

This variation of the 300km Audax route starts and finishes at Traralgon; making it almost 400km round trip.

This route may well have people riding in the dark to get to Jamieson after dinner time. You may ride with others but you must be prepared to ride on your own as people will simply ride at their own pace - there is no sag wagon, or support, at times there is no phone service either.

More information about the route can be found HERE

PLAN & ROUTES

Riders will need to make their way to Traralgon ready for a roll out early in morning on 22 Feb.

This is a flashpacking trip. Accommodation arrangements will be made by the riders who are coming along. Budget accommodation is available in Jamieson; it's $60 for a shared room at the Courthouse Hotel for example.

Day 1 Route: 198km/ 4200vm.
ROUTE IS HERE

Day 2 Route: 183km / 3700vm.
ROUTE IS HERE

More detailed information will be shared with the people who are coming along.

PLEASE read if you plan to attend

The Border Run

EVENT INFO

When: 22nd March 2025

Ride info:  243km 1645vm

Route: HERE

Start: 4:30am @ Melbourne GPO

Fin: VIC-NSW Border Sign on the Echuca-Moama Bridge

Surface: Mixed. Sealed & unsealed roads

What bike: Road or Gravel bike with minimum 35mm gravel tires

Who: Everyone looking for an unsupported gravel challenge!

What is The Border Run?

How fast can you ride to the border of your state? Can you do it in one day? This is a totally unsupported gravel challenge. It is not a race, but a sprited social ride. We're giving you the idea, the course and nothing else. You're on your own. Get your riding crew together and see if you can make it to the border in a day!

Like many historic overlander missions, this ride will depart from Melbourne's original GPO. It follows mostly bike/shared paths on the way to Woodland Historic Park. This will be a neutral zone for the safety of other riders, pedestrians, dogs, and others using the shared paths. Please be careful when riding this path. Once you depart Woodlands it's time to see how fast you can get to the border! The route is a combination of quiet backroads, both sealed and gravel. There are even a few surprises along the way, including a river crossing. Most of the climbing is in the first half of the ride and it is all very gradual, making this a fast course with under 2,000 vm for the full 240 km.

There are two main resupply points at Lancefield (90 km) and Heathcote (138 km). For those needing a last minute water/snack top up there is an Ampol service station as you pass through Rochester near the end (212 km).

You will need to plan your ride carefully, ensuring you have plenty of snacks and water. Hot weather and strong head winds can mean slow going to resupply points - plan accordingly! We will not be organising anything for you along the way.

The ride finishes at the Vic-NSW border on the Echuca-Moama Bridge. Your ride is complete once you tap the "Welcome to New South Wales" sign and take a finisher photo.

PLEASE read if you plan to attend

There are plenty of accommodation and services in Echuca, too. It is your responsibility to organise your accommodation.

There are trains from Echuca to Melbourne the next day, and places will be limited (thanks V/line!). Alternatively you can ride to Bendigo for more frequent train departures. Or if you're feeling super energetic, why not ride the whole way home? Getting home is your responsibility to organise.

Route Description
All riders are sure to get some exercise and a taste of adventure. Be prepared for some solid climbs, a mixed bag of surfaces - road, rocks & everything in between. No need to get your feet wet; there's ferry fun instead.

For the uninitiated, be warned that Convicts and Saints routes are not champagne gravel, they're a chance to get out of your comfort zone and enjoy the more adventurous side of cycling in a supportive environment.

If you're not in the market for Convicts or Saints, the Sunday offerings are notably smoother. We look forward to cruising along the river with you!

What you need to do, to make sure you have a good time
Pack plenty of snacks & water as it’s possible that these routes will take a bit longer than you expect.

We highly recommend robust tyres, set up tubeless.

Download the route files shared above.

Please be self-sufficient and remember that this is a fun social ride - not a race in any way, shape or form. While some of the Curve squad will be riding, there is no formal organisation; it will just be like you're out riding with your mates - nothing more.

Dirty Valda Bikepacking Quest

EVENT INFORMATION

When: Saturday 6th Sept @ 6:22am

Start: Melbourne Town Hall

Fin: Whippets Workshop, Adelaide

Route: HERE

What bike: A gravel/adventure/bikepacking bike! It is possible to ride the route with 40mm off-road tyres but it won't be very comfortable. A bigger tyre (think 2.1") will help on the corrugated and sandy sections.

Who: Experienced bike packers and first timers looking for a challenge. Be prepared and get ready for an awesome adventure!

FAQs: All the answers you need are HERE!

Please read if you plan to attend!

The route will be finalised in August 2025.

Curve will run the Dirty Valda as a spirited social ride starting on Sat 6 Sep 2025 @ 6:22am. Melbourne Town Hall, the route finishes at Whippets Workshop in Stepney, South Australia.

The route is likely to be very similar to the 2024 edition, any changes will be in response to road works/ changed traffic conditions close to the start of the route.

A MAProgress page will be created for some 'dot watching' fun, for those who want to use a tracking device.

Expect a bit of everything on this course, lots of riding, some hiking, a taste of singletrack, black top, sand, big towns and tiny ones, forests, rivers, plains and climbs. Some basic logistics information has been provided to assist your planning. The distances between resupply points and water may look manageable, but careful planning and preparation will be required; opening times are not always reliable, some of the terrain may take longer than expected, especially in adverse weather.

Take some mates or leave everyone in your dust, ride the lot or jump on for part of it, then hop on a train. Tent, bivvy, motels or other, this adventure is yours to make of it what you will.

Unless you're a fan of phrases like 'would have', 'could have' and 'should have', this is the moment to have a go at a bike packing trip.

There is no support offered of any kind, all riders must be self-sufficient.

To get amongst the action on Curve events please read and complete the registration and waiver on the Curve Cycling website: curvecycling.com/pages/ride-event-need-to-know?_pos=1&_sid=c8af5d6f6&_ss=r
