Extra Long Bar Tape

1) Install: My LBS shop mechanic said it was long enough to lay it thinner on the drops and thicker up on top. My go-to was Service Course CX tape but you really had to stretch it try try and fit on 44cm handlebars.

2) Feel: the textured pattern resembles Service Course CX tape—no slip with gloves on.

3) Aesthetic: Minimalistic and classic black.

4) Sturdiness: Within 24 hrs, I already put it through its paces. I chose the wrong line on a gravel descent that was off-camber, sandy, rutted, and went down. The right side of my carbon Walmer handlebar (and my shoulder) received the brunt of the impact, not a scratch or tear of the tape.

With the need to retape the Walmers what better place to go than the tape that is long enough to do the job. This tape performs well, a mix of comfortable and serviceable all in one long piece of tape necessary to do the job. Priced right the tape is of great quality and it's great to see is now available in a couple of colors, although on this occasion I chose black.

Don't get me wrong, there isn't anything wrong with this bar tape. It's black in colour and long in length. Black is the only way that it comes. It works in the wet and dry. Seems to have a degree of sponginess which works, doesn't slip and definitely works for longer rides. I suppose I'd like an alternative to black one day? In a world full of options, it's hardly a problem though. Will I order it again? Hell, yes.
