Will the Seek 500 work with my frame? |
The Seek 500 fork has a tapered 1 1/8"-1.5" (28.6-39mm) steerer with a 350 mm length. We use this steerer type on all of our forks. It may work with your frame, but you may have to change your headset or headset bearings to make it work. Please have a professional bicycle mechanic fit your Seek 500 fork.
Can I fit Hope or Paul Klamper Brakes? |
Yes
What is the maximum rotor size I can run? |
200mm
Can I run a rack?
You sure can! The Seek 500 is designed with a crown tru-hole, so all you need is an M5 bolt long enough to extend through the crown (which is 62mm thick), plus the rack hardware and leave enough room to fit a washer and nut on the back.
I prefer a very upright riding position, how many spacers can I put under my stem?
As with most carbon steerer forks on the market, we do not recommend running more than 30 mm of spacers below the stem (40mm can be approved in certain cases). We also suggest putting a 3-5 mm spacer above the stem to ensure precise compression and ample clearance of your stem cap.
What's the weight limit?
Our Seek 500 fork has been tested to ISO 4210 standards for MTB/offroad riding, so the maximum allowed ystem weight (bike, rider & luggage) is 120 kg.
How do I fit the steerer expander plug?
The full length of the steerer expander plug should extend past the stack of the stem, so do not leave excess steerer above the stem other than for light riding while dialling in your fit.
The expanding feature of the plug consists of 3 wedges - it is extremely important that the gap between the wedges DO NOT line up with the gap at the back of the stem clamp. Failure to follow this advice can lead to damage to the steerer.
What torque should I use for the leg mounts?
Generally, you don't need to add a lot of torque to the M5 bolts to secure a mounting cage. The maximum recommended torque to attach a cage is 5Nm.
DO NOT use locking washers, apply threadlocker or use bolts with threadlocker already applied. NOTE: If you're just putting bolts in the mounts to plug the holes - DO NOT torque the bolts. Only do them up finger tight. |
The Seek 500 Carbon Fork is Ready for Heavy Duty Bikepacking
The Seek 500 is Curve’s high-performance rigid carbon suspension-corrected fork, built for the toughest bikepacking adventures. This class-leading fork changes the game for load-carrying capability on a carbon fork. With our improved VGM mounting points you can safely and reliably load up 8 kg on each fork leg (16 kg in total), allowing you to carry more than ever on your next off-road adventure.

Game-changing Load Carrying Capability
With Curve’s VGM technology, we’re saying goodbye to the less reliable rivnut fork mounts for good. Our CNC-machined mounts, pierce the fork leg completely and once bonded in place they are supported in all directions. Rough trails or desert corrugations cannot wiggle our mounts loose and we’ve done the lab testing to prove it.
Harsh lab testing has demonstrated that 8 kg can be mounted confidently to three fork mounts on each side. That’s an incredible 16 kg in total; a number that’s unmatched for a carbon fork leg mounting as far as we’re aware. This means you can be more creative in how you pack on your adventures. Riders with smaller frames with less carrying capacity in the central frame triangle can load up their forks, making a wider range of adventures possible.

The Perfect Bikepacking Upgrade for your Hardtail MTB
With a 500 mm axle-crown measurement, the suspension-corrected Seek 500 is designed to replace a 120 mm suspension fork. While it is a perfect match for the Curve UpRock, the Seek 500 is a solid bikepacking fork upgrade choice for your existing MTB. When it comes to load carrying, the Seek 500 fork is the most capable carbon option on the market, and it has been tested to survive serious off-road adventures.
With two offset choices, 44 or 52 mm using a CNC aluminium flip-chip, the Seek 500 will work with a range of MTB geometries.

The remarkable Seek 430 FM bikepacking carbon fork
We have put a hell of a lot of work into the new Seek 430 FM fork to get it to where it is now. Our primary focus was to improve the load carrying capability of a carbon fork, but we managed to include a some other improvements, too...
