The Future is W I D E
Designed in Melbourne
The Walmer Bar is designed to service the rigours and demands of rugged gravel and off-road bikepacking. No handlebar on the market was the right width or shape, so we decided to create our own.
Bikepacking Heaven
Originally intended to complement the new GMX+ bikepacking platform, the Walmer Bar also works with any gravel bike or off-road beast. The Walmer Bar brings the stability and control of MTB bars combined with the multiple hand positions of drop bars. The extra width offers more storage space for bar-mounted bags, lights, navigation etc. The BP editions also have a wider central oversized section on either side of the clamping area. This provides even more space to mount lights, snack pouches, aero bars or whatever else you could possibly think of to mount on a bar!
Why Wide Drop Bars?
The ability to change hand position regularly prevents pressure and tension build-up, and helps minimise numbness and blisters. A wider handlebar also offers more stability and control, particularly when descending sketchy terrain on a loaded bike. It also gives added leverage when tackling technical climbs.
Narrow Wide Road
The 40 and 43 are narrower versions of our Walmer Bar to accompany the Belgie Ultra. Providing a relaxed, more comfortable hand position to compliment endurance road bike geometry. Having a swept bar design allows you to have a wider hand position without affecting overall reach, thereby creating all-day comfort when riding longer days on the road. You will find the same amount of flare from the hoods to the drops as our wider versions. The idea behind the flare is to increase control when descending or riding more technical terrain. The bar design also allows you to utilise more muscles in the back, which conversely allows you to relax your shoulders for a more comfortable ride.
What’s with the Name?
Breathe in! Named after a narrow pedestrian/cycle bridge on the Yarra River in Melbourne. There's little room for anything else if Walmer Bars are crossing.
Influenced by MTB bar design, we've integrated 7° of sweep to the flat section. This shortens the reach to your hoods to counteract the wide grip.
